Spain
There is so much more to Spain than the main tourist destinations of the Costa del Sol and the Costa Blanca but these are the areas which have helped turn Spain into the top holiday destination for the British during the holiday season mainly because of the introduction of cheap air travel Spain which opened up this beautiful country to the millions of British who are after a great time in the sunshine.
The best time to visit for that important good weather is between April and October, but do watch out for the blistering heat of August!
As a lover of Spain I now have too come clean and confirm that for years I had a small villa on the Costa Blanca where the weather is virtually perfect all year round. Some would say
it has the most perfect climate anywhere – it does certainly come very near the top of the list and with its unspoilt golden beaches that go on for miles it is wonderful.
However after years of beach holidays you may just decide to venture a little further and this is when you will discover the real Spain. You may like to visit the capital city Madrid with its beautiful museums and galleries or travel to Barcelona which to my mind has to be the most romantic and elegant city in Spain.
If you enjoy your food take in Valencia, the home of Paella or if fine art takes your fancy you must visit Granada where you will find some of the finest Islamic art in Europe and if you
want to know where the wealthy Spaniards go, its San Sabastian where the beaches, food and nightlife are fabulous.
